On the occasion of the beginning of 2021, I sincerely wish all of the readers, authors, editors and staff a happy and prosperous new year.
In the past year of 2020, a ceaseless storm of the COVID-19 buffeted human beings. As the president-elect of the ILAE, Dr. Helen Cross said in her newly published paper in Lancet Neurology, “in all areas of medicine, not only did clinical care delivery to our epilepsy patients have to change, but as staff were redeployed and universities closed, research was also paused”. We, epileptologists in China, however, did a great job to overcome all the difficulties that our patients were facing and got super achievements. Our clinical service, including telemedicine, and research work were going on smoothly.
At present, brain science has become one of the focal points of the biomedical scientific researches. The quick development of brain science is of great significance to human health. Preventing, monitoring and treating brain diseases should become an important part of public health and preventive medicine. By taking epilepsy for example, brain researches play a vital role in prevention and control of brain diseases.
The researches of epilepsy, besides clinical studies, involve electrophysiology, pathophysiology, imaging, information science, genetic metabolism and other disciplines, and it is an indispensable and important part of brain science. And all of those subjects are the main interests of our journal “Acta Epileptologica”.
The journal “Acta Epileptologica” has been published about two years, under the co-efforts of the readers, authors, reviewers, editors and staff, it has got remarkable progress in quantity and quality of the manuscript submissions. To become the top academic platform makes our common target. I wish our epileptologists, including clinicians, researchers, neurophysiologists, imagists, psychologists, pathologists, nurses, public health workers, social workers, and other specialists in brain science, to pay more attention and invest more effort to the journal “Acta Epileptologica”, and so make it a first-rate scientific magazine.
I wish a greater achievement of the “Acta Epileptologica” in 2021!
