The year of 2020 is coming! It is the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century and the second year of our new open access journal of “Acta Epileptologica”.
In the life sciences and medicine domain, knowledge of the human body has reached a very high level, except for understanding of the human brain. It has been foreseen that the 21st century would be the “Century of Brain Science.” In the past two decades, the research on brain science has been booming, so as in the field of epilepsy research. Modern research on epilepsy integrated brain structure and function, including electrical functioning, chemical signal transmission, ion channels, neuronal networks, neuroimaging, and magnetic performance, artificial intelligence, seizure prediction, to localize brain function and protect and reveal learning and recognition activities of the brain. The free access journal of Acta Epileptologica was born in response to the proper time and conditions. Acta Epileptologica is dedicated to advancing people’s understanding of epilepsy by providing a forum to share the latest research. The main focus of the journal covers all aspects related to epilepsy, topics include but are not limited to basic research, practical management of epilepsy, neuroimaging, therapeutic trials, case report, social and psychological burden. In addition to the mechanisms of epileptogenesis, broader comorbidities of epilepsy, new treatments and their measures.
Acta Epileptologica is the first English open access journal in epileptology from mainland China and it has had plenty of professional material resources and strong researchers team in its back. We already had a successful beginning of publication in 2019. I believe that under our authors/readers’ joint efforts, the journal will have a more brilliant future in 2020 and further on.
